January 17 @ 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Lean Manufacturing Toolbox
Companies survive by providing value to their customers. To do so profitably, companies focus on continuous improvement in terms of quality as well as cost reduction. Lean Manufacturing is a primary strategy for continuous improvement, with its focus on reducing waste. In todays world, management requires engineers to understand the concepts of lean manufacturing and apply them in their routine job activities.
This presentation will provide concepts of Lean Manufacturing Methodology and an overview of tools/techniques that Tim has found useful in a manufacturing environment. Participants will get insight about seven wastes, lean strategies, and eight tools including value stream mapping, visual factory, 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Tim Conway is a member of ASQ and a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He has over 30 years experience as a process engineer in the defense and semiconductor industries and has been utilizing and teaching continuous improvement tools and techniques almost as long. Tim is currently a quality assurance engineer and acting site statistician at a semiconductor manufacturing facility.
