We are excited to invite you to our upcoming event: Autonomous Driving using Automated Commonsense Reasoning with Dr. Gopal Gupta.
What’s It About?
Driving requires careful observation and quick decision making tasks that, for autonomous vehicles, must be fully automated. While most current systems rely on machine learning for environment perception, our approach argues that driving decisions are best handled through human-style commonsense reasoning. In this talk, Dr. Gopal Gupta will explain how his team uses answer set programming (ASP) and the goal-directed s(CASP) system to simulate a human driver’s thought process, making decisions that are both explainable and correct.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Gopal Gupta is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas and Co-Director of the Center for Applied AI and Machine Learning. With decades of experience in AI research from automated reasoning and computational logic to explainable machine learning, Dr. Gupta has led groundbreaking work that has not only earned numerous best-paper awards but also resulted in commercial software and startups. His expertise in automating human-style commonsense reasoning is transforming the future of autonomous driving.
